Latest Southwest Volusia Habitat news-

We recently closed on our newest piece of property for our next build !!! It will be built in Orange City and be home to Yolanda and John Jackson and their two children. If you would like to be part of the construction crew on this house, please get in touch with the office (386-774-1553 or swvhfh.office@gmail.com). Construction should begin in early August.

We celebrated the completion of house #30 in early May 2010! It became home to Ashley and Kris, and their sons, Tyler and Blake.

Mayor Harley Strickland of Orange City presented a Proclamation to Harvey VanBuskirk for his many years of service to SWV HFH. The Proclamation from the City of Orange City declared January 30, 2010 to be Harvey VanBuskirk Day in Orange City and asked all residents to honor Harvey on his day !! SWV HFH is so proud of his accomplishments over the years. Harvey has volunteered with the affiliate for the last 11 years. He served as Construction Supervisor and worked over 900 hours on each of the last 13 homes.

On July 18th, we dedicated 3 houses (located at 1886 and 1860 W. Blue Springs and 465 Magnolia).. It was an historic event as we welcomed 3 families to their new homes...and what a crowd we had gathered in the hot Florida sun. Southwest Volusia Habitat for Humanity is SO grateful to all of the volunteers who have made this possible.

The Z Van
As a special treat on Monday, Jan. 19th, Z88.3 radio joined us for a 'van stop' at our construction site! We listened to our favorite Z artists and songs over the lunch hour. We really appreciate their participation in our work ending poverty housing in the southwest Volusia area.

Great hat, Pastor Drew !
Check the Construction Calendar to see what is coming up next weekend- and join us !
SWV HFH is pleased to welcome our very first Executive Director, Mr. Brent Lacy. He comes to us from the NE Georgia Habitat affiliate where he served as their ED for the past three years. We look forward to working together with him as we move into our third decade of service to low income families in SW Volusia County.
